FOCP in attendance at the International Public Safety Wireless Leaders Forum

Representatives from the Federal Office for Civil Protection (FOCP) attended the 2019 International Public Safety Wireless Leaders Forum. Organised by the United States First Responder Network Authority and held in the US city of Boulder, Colorado from 26 to 31 August, the conference provided attendees from North America, Europe, Oceania and Japan with an opportunity to discuss and share their experiences of mobile broadband public safety communication solutions for first responders.

Alerts and information now available via Alertswiss

With the upgraded version of Alertswiss, the federal government and cantons have created a new platform for alerting and informing the general public. As of today, the authorities will also issue public warnings and information on hazardous situations via Alertswiss. The new Alertswiss app and Alertswiss website represent the most up-to-date channels for providing alerts.

Annual NEOC radioactivity survey flights with international partners

This year, the National Emergency Operations Centre’s (NEOC) annual radioactivity survey flights took place in Switzerland from 26 to 30 June. For the first time in ten years, measuring teams from Germany, France and the Czech Republic were invited to take part in joint measurement training exercises. Cooperation between countries is crucial in this matter, as it ensures that measuring instruments can be coordinated quickly and large areas of land can be surveyed efficiently in the event of an incident.
